Tele-psychiatry Services
What is tele-psychiatry?
Tele-psychiatry has expanded quickly during the rise of COVID-19. The use of audio and video-conferencing for psychotherapy and medication management increases access to patients in rural communities and for patients who may not be able to travel so readily. In addition, tele-psychiatry appointments can be more convenient for patients, since commute time is generally less of a factor in making appointments. Tele-psychiatry offers flexibility, improved accessibility, and avoids delays and allows for easier rescheduling of appointments.
Dr. Salako offers tele-psychiatry options for both medication management and therapy appointments. If you are requesting or require a prescription for a controlled substance, your initial evaluation must be conducted in-person, and we may not fill the prescription until you have been seen in-person according to our established guidelines. If you do not need a controlled substance prescription, you have the option to choose between a virtual or in-person initial evaluation based on your preference.
